Of course everyone is busy talking about the latest gossip as the media loves to distract us from the important events happening. Right now there is an ex-NBA star in a coma as a direct result of a drug overdose in a legal brothel and that’s what they are covering non stop.
Sadly, no real coverage of the way Russia is taking out ISIS and doing so with precision. I won’t even get into the whole US-ISIS debacle in this post but I will give you the real story soon. What you hear in America by the propaganda machines of mainstream media never is what is really happening.
Take the first Democratic Debate this week for instance. Every single online poll of actual American citizens shows clearly that Bernie Sanders won that debate. Yet, mainstream media won’t even entertain that. No, they are declaring Hillary Clinton the winner of a debate that no one else seems to think she won.
One of the biggest moments of that debate (now even trending with hashtag #damnemails) was when Bernie Sanders declared, “The American people are sick of hearing about your damn emails!” to Clinton. However, what is also very important are the words he spoke soon after. His statements, directed to Anderson Cooper about the media, have been edited out in all of the replay clips of that moment. This further proofs his point about the media! See how MSNBC edited out Sander’s criticism of the mainstream media:
What exactly did they edit out? Here are Bernie Sanders’ words right after that moment: “The middle class — Anderson, and let me say something about the media, as well. I go around the country, talk to a whole lot of people. Middle class in this country is collapsing. We have 27 million people living in poverty. We have massive wealth and income inequality. Our trade policies have cost us millions of decent jobs. The American people want to know whether we’re going to have a democracy or an oligarchy as a result of Citizens United.”
Now take a look at the unedited moments of the debate that the media clearly does not want us to see or remember. Below you will see his real reason for his statements to Clinton. He is not defending her as the media has spun it. He is redirecting the debate to the issues that affect the American voters. He is calling out the media that is so busy obsessing over sensationalized news stories it fails to accurately and professionally tackle the issues that affect their viewership.
I was actually watching CNN the following morning and saw the same thing happening right on the very network that hosted the debate. Michaela Periera showed highlights of the debate that clearly got the most attention on social media. The transcript of that coverage is available directly here on CNN‘s website. I am putting it here as well:
Periera:” Moving along, the big moment on Facebook, I could have predicted this one. The “damn e-mails” comment from Bernie Sanders, the senator from Vermont. If you didn’t get a chance to hear it, let me refresh your memory.”
The video clip shown next is just this part:
Sanders: “I think the secretary is right. And that is, that the American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn e-mails.”
Clinton: “Thank you. Me too! Me too!”
Periera: “What’s interesting, many thought that he might have taken advantage of the fact that this was a big opening, but instead he essentially kind of defended her. This moment really, really rang true to a lot of people online.”
That’s it. Once again they just skipped right over the moment where Sanders scolds the media for failing to cover the real issues of the election that the viewers need them to. Periera even interpreted the moment totally wrong. Sanders is not dismissing Clinton’s behavior nor is he attacking her. Instead, he is expressing his frustration and the frustrations of so many Americans, with the total lack of serious coverage by the media when it comes to what is important during this election.
Unlike the circus that the Republican Debates have become, the Democratic Debate brought a serious tone to a very pivotal upcoming event in this country. This election is at a crucial time in our history. The mainstream media needs to be called out, not only by those they cover, but the viewers who rely on them for non-partisan coverage. They not only fail at providing that, but they lack the integrity of true journalism. I applaud Bernie Sanders for addressing the media directly and I urge all of you to take the time to look beyond their bias and find other avenues of information. I hope I can be one of those places you can find some facts that you may not get from the mainstream media outlets.
